Unknown facts about Harimandir sahib-Golden temple- Continued

I have seen all places,

None Like you.

  • You would be amazed to know that in primitive times Gautam Buddha proclaimed that for the achievement of ‘Nirvana’ (Salvation) for the Buddhist monks- GoldenTemple is the best compared to all the places he has seen so far.
  • Another Amazing fact about this holy place is – To enhance the beauty of Harimandir, Maharaja Ranjit Singh ornamented the abode of god with 162 seers (One seer= 1kg) pure gold valuing 66 lakhs at that time for 27 years.
  • Out of ten gurus, eight had graces this divine place wit their pious feet.
  • The Platform that Guru Arjan dev ji has raised in the centre of holy pond for the foundation of  Harimandir Sahib is 67 Hath (A measure approximately of the size of a foot) Long and 67 hath wide. The main reason for choosing this dimension of 67 after very careful consideration. He was aware that every Indian wishes to visit 67 holy shrines in his or her lifetime. By designing the 67 hath dimension, Guru Arjan Dev ji enjoined all 67 Shrines at this 68th holy shrine -Harimandir Sahib.
  • To enter the Harimandir sahib, in the middle of the holy pond, you have to walk over the bridge and take 84 steps from the spectacular outdoor (darshni deori) of the temple. This fact is also indicative of the belief that if one enters the boundary of the Harimandir Sahib, after giving up the worldly attachment, ego, pride and greed and takes 84 steps on the bridge to reach Darbar Sahib, one can achieve emancipation or freedom from the bondage of the 84 lac births.

Three Wonder Tips for Relief from Back Pain during Pregnancy- My view Point

We all know that during pregnancy the entire body structure of a woman bears a lot of pain and pressure on areas like spine, legs and feet. Sometimes this can lead to severe lower back pain during pregnancy. Undoubtedly, it is the most common problem during pregnancy- and also an obvious one!

So don’t just bear it as a part and parcel of pregnancy. You can easily prevent and treat back pain during pregnancy by following these simple wonder tips:-

Three Wonder Tips for Relief from Back Pain during Pregnancy

Do Practice a Good Sitting Posture

Every minute your baby is growing and your center of gravity is taking a shift forward. To avoid falling forward, you body is compensating by leaning back — which is causing this strain in lower back muscles – in turn contributing to back pain during pregnancy.  Therefore, practicing a good sitting posture is the key to get relief from back pain during pregnancy. Be straight and erect while standing by holding your chest high and by keeping your shoulders back and relaxed. While standing, do practice a comfortably wide stance for your body support. Avoid standing for a longer period of time. If required to stand then rest one foot on a low step stool for couple of minutes to avoid strain your back muscles.

Good posture also means sitting properly. Always choose a chair that supports your back properly. If not so than place a small cushion behind to support your lower back properly.

Lift Properly During Pregnancy

It’s important to know your limits of lifting any object during pregnancy. You should squad down for lifting a small object and lift with your legs. Never bend at the waist or lift with your back. Never hesitate to ask for a help from your close ones if you need it to avoid chronic spine injuries during pregnancy.

Let in some physical activity in your daily routine

Regular physical activity can actually help your body in coping up with the stresses and back pains during pregnancy and can keep your back strong at the same time. You can try out some stress-free activities like walking, swimming, meditation etc. to get an instant relief from back pain during pregnancy.

Considering some good complementary therapies is also a good idea. If your back pain still persists even after following these self-care strategies described above then do consult your health care provider at the earliest.

Is it Nursery admissions 2012 or 15 days Marathon experience?

Monday morning, 9th January,

At sharp 9:30 am I heard someone’s mobile conversation.

That “SOMEONE” was standing just 10 steps behind me in a long queue.

“Bro- DO cover each and every school in Dwarka-especially Bal Bharti, Maxfort and don’t miss Mt. carmel school for sure, meanwhile I have send Preety to cover all schools in Pashim Vihar area. Hopefully, we would be able to cover all schools in these two hours” he exclaimed.
By now you must have got an idea where I was standing on that chilly Monday morning.
Yes, I was standing amidst the queue to get the nursery admission form for my three years old son.
I got so astonished to see the level of enthusiasm and vigor in parents to collect the forms of as many schools as possible as if some sort of competition is going on!
In just couple of minutes I heard another lady saying that she had covered 23 schools in west Delhi and amazingly she was so proud of it!
I could see the spark in her eyes! As if she stood first in a marathon!
Covering more and more schools seems to add a sense of security in the minds of parents.
Surprisingly, everyone seemed to me like rushing to get their child admitted in the best school available. I was took aback when I came to know that nowadays parents “are ready” to send their kids to even far away “good schools” instead of sending them to nearby “Average schools”. Even if their child has to get up so early in the morning and catch school bus even before 6 o’clock in the morning for ‘Delhi Darshan’ every day, parents don’t mind.
Undoubtedly, this mad scramble for getting seats in nursery is because of limited number of general category seats in every school. With so many reservations for SC/ST/EWS quota, the general category is appearing like another “MINORITY CLASS” these days.
Sometimes I do wonder what will happen when our kids will be facing similar situation some 25-30 years from now!
I think “Quotas” will increase and General category will fall between 0.5% and 1%.
PHEW!

Son: What would you be when you grow up? -My view point

“Beta; what will you be when you grow up?”

I remember; when any of my relative used to ask this question to me; I use to look blankly at my MOM as if they have asked me how much I have scored in my math exam? But I remember; my cousins had their own (well taught) answers. The most common answer use to be: ‘I will be a pilot when I grow up’

It’s obvious; such answers were inculcated in their minds by their parents so that whenever their child says it they could feel proud of it.

But, my blog is not about this. I have something very obvious and at the same time very unique to tell you guys!

It’s been more than a year since I have been traveling through Delhi Metro almost daily. The most common sight is of teenagers with their mobile earphones plugged (stuffed) into their ears – listening to really LOUD music- hurting their ears- every second.

I seriously feel sorry for each one of them (especially those who stand very close to me)

I know this is a gadget-centric generation and we all love to stay plugged in…listening to our favorite musical number on our smartphone, mobile phone or iPod; but; this is also a fact that we listen to the music at a very high volume; simply because we love to listen it that ways.

I couldn’t believe when I came to know that MP3 players have the ability to blast 104 decibels (dB) straight into the ears – equivalent of standing next to a pneumatic drill (110dB). In fact, any level above 90dB can cause long-term damage to hearing.

Still we don’t care and remain reluctant to accept that we are doing wrong to our ears.

This is what I experience every day in metro and all of a sudden a thought JUMPED inside my mind!

If these teenagers won’t change their ‘always-listening-to-loud- music’ habit soon then 10-15 years from now, when they grow up into mature adults – they will definitely suffer a long –term hearing problems.

The only profession which would lead at that time would be of an ENT doctor or Hearing Aid Specialist.

I think it’s time that we should teach our children that whenever anyone asks them “what will you be when you grow up?”

The answer should not be- “Pilot”, “Engineer”…rather it should be…

“I want to be an ENT Doctor or a Hearing Aid Specialist because as per my mom’s analysis it would become the most flourishing profession in just 10-15 years from now!”

Just Kidding!

Do you believe in shortcuts!- My view Point

Amazingly, the word ‘shortcut’ is so fascinating and yet so weird to me if it isn’t to you!  What I believe is that each one of us, each one… seeks out for some shortcuts to get something lying beyond the boundaries; which seems impossible; difficult, or stressful to achieve otherwise; without applying a shortcut.
Let me elaborate for you!

Today; each one of us need some or the other ‘Wonder Shortcut’ to quench our thirst for More!

Each one of us want to earn 10 times or 100 times More money than what we are earning in our 9 to 6 routine job, Each one of us wants a shortcut to snatch away and sit at the position of our respective (so called!) bosses and relish the fruit of success by sitting on their position, Each one of us wants to do every task in just 86,400 seconds of a full day. Each one of us wants to reach, climb higher…higher and higher…wants more and more…but where end lies?

Do you really think these shortcuts work? Well sometimes they do and sometimes they prepare you for one more shortcut.

You know? Every day I see some or the other example of things happening around me which makes me a firm believer of the fact that people are used to or rather prone to applying ‘shortcuts’ in their daily life.

People want shortcuts of everything!

The other day; when I was passing through a busy street, I saw a long and never ending zigzag queue of people on the corner of the street. My eyes started following the snake like queue from backward and I became more and more curious to know what the final destination of all these people. In matter of 2-3 seconds, I realized that it is leading towards a very famous religious place and those people were those who wanted to offer their prayers inside that religious place.

As I am also a strong believer of God therefore I didn’t felt strange by watching the level of devotion they were showing by standing there in such hot summer evening but what strike me the most is why; all of a sudden so much devotion is being shown by people and that too today?

I pass this road everyday and I don’t find such queues every day THEN WHY TODAY?

The question kept on tossing inside my mind for another 20 minutes till the time I reached home. When I picked my daily newspaper, the front page had the answer. It subdued that thing which was tossing inside my mind. Yes! The query!

It was a Special day!  A day on which it is believed that if we offer our prayers in front of god with honest heart and full devotion; then we won’t face any health problem, any family problem and financial problem and all kinds of similar never ending problems…Our life will run as smooth as Mercedes.  All our worries will vanish by offering special prayers on This Special Day.

Phew!

Few questions came running in a marathon inside my mind.

Why we; as human beings; need a support of Special Days for showing SpecialDevotion to our Special Gods. Why on the very next day after this so called ‘special day’, not even a single devotee can be seen, standing there, offering prayers?

Was it a ‘limited period offer’ scheme run by God or rather God will refuse to listen to the prayers of those devotees who failed to reach their on that special day?

And most of all; why we believe that God is a biased deity like we Humans; who won’t listen to our prayers if we offer him our prayers from the depth of our heart even by sitting at our home and not being one standing amidst long queues and taking a SHORTCUT to offer prayers to God on special worship day?

My friend! Shortcut is a word made and used ONLY by human beings. For God ‘Shortcut’ is nothing.

You can’t fool God by applying such shortcuts to get your prayers accepted. He knows what to do and when to do irrespective of your ‘silly’ shortcuts.

There is no shortcut to reach God!
Personally, I never had any faith in these kinds of shortcuts which are followed to show false devotion to God even if the very intention is wrong and doubtful!

If your heart is clean and your intensions are good, God Himself will show you the way to reach him.
